A joint research team from the Department of Life Sciences at our College, in collaboration with the Colleges of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Wasit and the University of Basrah, has achieved a new scientific accomplishment. The study, conducted with the participation of Assistant Professor Dr. Hawraa Faisal Hasbullah, reports—for the first time in Iraq—the identification of the bacterium Trueperella pyogenes using molecular techniques (PCR).The team successfully registered twenty bacterial isolates in the global NCBI GenBank, making this study the first of its kind in cattle to perform molecular characterization of strains isolated from wound suppurations. The study recommends continued surveillance of bacterial strains and the adoption of appropriate health measures to ensure effective treatment.
