Assistant Lecturer Rya Khalid Yousif, a faculty member in the Department of Biology at the College of Education for Pure Sciences, University of Al-Hamdaniya, delivered a series of scientific lectures as part of a training course organized by the General Directorate of Research at Salahaddin University – Erbil. The lectures focused on the technique of Agarose Gel Electrophoresis and its significance in analyzing biomolecules and understanding the genetic structure of living organisms. The lectures aimed to familiarize participants with the concept of the genome and its importance in determining genetic traits and diseases. They also clarified the relationship between the genome and proteins, explaining the mechanism of gene expression from DNA to RNA and subsequently to protein. Additionally, the sessions provided participants with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills related to electrophoresis techniques. Moreover, the lectures emphasized laboratory safety principles when handling chemicals and equipment, and aimed to enhance participants’ ability to apply molecular techniques in scientific research and genetic diagnostics. This academic engagement reflects the College of Education for Pure Sciences’ commitment to supporting scientific and training activities, promoting academic collaboration, and encouraging the exchange of expertise among Iraqi universities. Such efforts contribute to the advancement of research and education in the fields of life sciences and molecular genetics.
