The College of Education for Pure Sciences at the University of Al-Hamdaniya is pleased to announce its participation in the Short Story Competition organized by Al-Furat Al-Awsat University, which will be held from November 16 to 20, 2025, as part of the Ministry’s official student activity programs.
Accordingly, the college invites interested students to submit their short story texts to the Student Activities Division of the college. Submitted works will be reviewed and evaluated by a specialized committee, which will select the most suitable story to represent the college in the ministerial competition.
Deadline for submissions: Sunday, November 9, 2025
Participation Guidelines:
- The age of the participant must not exceed 30 years.
- The theme of the story is generally defined, allowing the writer freedom in choosing the topic, provided it does not infringe upon religious values, social cohesion, or politically sensitive issues that are inconsistent with the nature of the competition.
- The story must be written in proper Modern Standard Arabic, adhering to grammatical, orthographic, and stylistic standards.
- The story must exhibit literary and creative quality, including strong elements of plot, characterization, dialogue, narrative style, and conclusion.
- The story must be the participant’s own original work, not previously published (in print or online), not submitted to any other competition, and not adapted or plagiarized.
- The word count must be between 300 and 1000 words, or no more than three pages in length.
- Each participant may submit only one entry to represent their university. Duplicate submissions of the same text or by the same person are not allowed.
- Entries must be submitted in PDF or Word format via email or the designated online platform. A member of the ministerial committee will be responsible for receiving the submissions.
- Each submission must include a brief CV containing: full name, university, college, department, field of study, email address, and phone number.
- The story and the CV must be included in a single merged file.
- Each participant must be prepared to present the theme of their story in no more than three minutes.
